A Journey from Classroom to Corporate Corridors
Askan Technologies became the destination for an edifying industrial excursion that was marked on the calendar for
April 30, 2025. This insightful field visit was arranged for
50 students from the
Department of Computer Science with specialization in Artificial Intelligence at University College of Engineering Kancheepuram. Accompanying them were instructors
Mrs. T. Kala, Assistant Professor (CSE), and Mr. Sathish Kumar, Assistant Professor (CSE) who expertly facilitated the students’ transition from classroom instruction to real-world IT experiences.
About University College of Engineering Kancheepuram (UCEK)
University College of Engineering Kancheepuram (UCEK), a constituent college of Anna University, was established by the Government of Tamil Nadu in 2010. Located in Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu, the college is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Government of India. UCEK offers B.E. degree programs in Mechanical, Electrical and Electronics, Electronics and Communication, and Computer Science and Engineering, with an annual intake of 60 students per branch. The college is managed by Anna University and led by the Dean.
Stepping Inside the Tech World

From the moment they walked into the sleek,
modern campus of Askan Technologies, the students were captivated. The company’s infrastructure wasn’t just impressive in appearance; it radiated a culture of productivity, collaboration, and innovation. Walking through buzzing workspaces, they observed firsthand how teams apply concepts like development, backend integration, and UI/UX design, concepts they had so far only encountered in textbooks.
It was more than a tour; it was a window into the future. The students saw how their classroom lessons come alive in a professional setting, how code turns into products, and how teamwork transforms ideas into solutions.
A Powerful Session with Industry Expertise

The most exciting part of the day was an interactive session with
Mrs. Meenakshi Devi, Askan Technologies' Human Resources Head. She didn’t just touch on hiring; she covered pulsating issues like growth, adaptability, and the essential skills that fresh graduates need to succeed. Her emphasis regarding onboarding, learning and development, and soft skills, was striking to the students.
Many consider this to be a watershed moment. From a different perspective, the unvarnished yet motivating counsel offered by
Mrs. Meenakshi lifted the shroud of dread surrounding entry into the corporate sphere. She made it clear that there is no expectation of flawless execution from day one; rather, companies seek an eagerness to learn and grow.
Curiosity Turned into Confidence: A Student Perspective
One student,
Roobashre, shone brightly that day, not just for organizing the visit but for her genuine curiosity and engagement. She openly shared that before this experience, she had felt anxious about corporate life and unsure where she would fit in. But by the end of the session, her confidence had blossomed, especially after hearing that the journey from campus to career is supported with training, mentorship, and growth opportunities.

Other students found their own moments of realization during the visit.
Lokesh shared his excitement at
finally understanding how companies operate beyond the classroom. For him, seeing live projects and collaborative teamwork helped connect the dots between the coding exercises they do in college and real-world software development.
“It was eye-opening to see how ideas move from a simple discussion to an actual product,” he said, reflecting on the experience.
Surendar, curious about career opportunities, asked thoughtful questions about
internships and how students can prepare themselves before stepping into industry roles.
Mrs. Meenakshi Devi replied with warm fervor, sharing that
Askan Technologies provides internships on different streams such as frontend, backend, and full-stack development. She reaffirmed that technical skills are needed, but what actually counts is a very strong willingness to learn, capacity to adapt, and eagerness to take up challenges.
"It is not about what tools you know, but even how you pick them up, and solve," she further added. She urged the students to remain curious, continuously work on developing their skills, and acquire good communication and teamwork skills, which are also equally valuable in the modern workplace.
For many students, these conversations were transformative. They left with a clearer sense of what companies value - not perfection, but a mindset of growth, curiosity, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
A Cultural Surprise: Exploring Ulamart

Just when the students thought the day couldn’t get more interesting, they were introduced to
Ulamart, one of Askan Technologies’ standout ventures.
Ulamart isn’t just an e-commerce brand; it’s a celebration of tradition, offering a beautiful range of ethnic and natural products, from
heritage rice varieties to cold-pressed
oils and
organic essentials.

As the students explored, they were fascinated not only by the traditional food and wellness items but also by the collection of
miniatures and creative play products designed for children. These items weren’t just toys, they were thoughtfully crafted to spark imagination and nurture creativity in young minds, blending cultural storytelling with hands-on learning. The students were pleasantly surprised to see how a tech company like Askan was encouraging creativity and cultural pride, even among the youngest generation.

Even the
faculty joined in the excitement, purchasing miniature items from Ulamart as souvenirs, small tokens that captured the spirit of the day and the beauty of combining culture with commerce.
Beyond the Visit: A Moment of Realization
By the end of the visit, what the students took home was much more than brochures or photographs. They carried back inspiration, clarity, and a renewed sense of purpose. They had seen the world waiting outside graduation: one that values inquisitiveness, adaptability, and being willing to move into fresh spheres.
Thanks, from the bottom of one's heart, go to
Askan Technologies for hospitality, kindness and to Mrs. Meenakshi Devi for encouragement and practical insight sessions. Additional gratitude also to
Mrs. T. Kala and Mr. M. Sathish Kumar for guidance and trouble-free coordination throughout the day.
