On 31st July 2025, forty-nine students from the third-year B section of the Artificial Intelligence and Data Science (AID) department at St. Joseph’s College of Engineering, Chennai, visited
Askan Technologies for an engaging and interactive industry session.
Accompanied by their faculty mentors,
Dr. Kotteeswaran R (Associate Professor) and Ms. Aswini E (Assistant Professor), the students arrived with eager minds and thoughtful questions, ready to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world tech applications.
St. Joseph’s: A Campus That Encourages Exploration
St. Joseph’s College of Engineering is known for promoting academic excellence while also encouraging practical exposure. The AID department actively supports this approach by connecting students with industry professionals and current trends.
The third-year B section students demonstrated this vision in action. Curious and engaged, they showed a strong interest in understanding how a technology company operates behind the scenes.
Exploring Askan’s Tech Culture
At
Askan Technologies, the students stepped into a workspace designed for collaboration and creativity. Rather than traditional cubicles, they saw open layouts, team-focused discussions, and an environment built for innovation.
Walking through the office, students observed how design, development, and project management teams work together to deliver mobile apps, websites, and custom digital solutions across industries.
Insights from HR: What Today’s Companies Look For

The highlight of the visit was an interactive session led by
Ms. Fahmeeda from the HR team. She shared valuable insights into what companies look for when evaluating candidates.
She explained that technical knowledge is essential, but so are soft skills, initiative, and professional presence. A well-maintained LinkedIn profile, participation in real-world projects, and strong communication skills can significantly enhance a student's first impression.
Meaningful Questions, Practical Answers
The session became more engaging as students began asking focused questions about internships, required skills, and career preparation.
Several students asked how to apply for
internships and what companies expect. Ms. Fahmeeda encouraged them to demonstrate enthusiasm, hands-on learning, and a growth mindset.
One thoughtful moment came when
Praveen, a student interested in sales and marketing, asked how to pitch products effectively. This led to a short but insightful discussion on storytelling, soft skills, and customer understanding in technical sales.

Later,
Kokila C asked,
“What programming languages are used in your projects?” The HR team outlined their current tech stack, which includes HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Flutter, and other frameworks depending on project needs. This gave students clear context for their classroom learning.
Faculty Mentors Who Make a Difference

The active presence of
Dr. Kotteeswaran R and Ms. Aswini E added depth to the session. Their engagement helped connect theoretical learning with industry realities, and they supported students not only during the visit but throughout their academic journey.
Their involvement reflected a commitment to mentoring students beyond the classroom, encouraging them to think bigger and aim higher.
A Visit That Sparked New Thinking
As the visit came to a close, students walked away with more than answers. They gained new ideas, clearer career direction, and a stronger understanding of what it takes to succeed in the tech industry.
For the team at Askan, it was a day filled with meaningful conversations and the refreshing energy of future innovators.
This was more than just an industry visit. It was a step forward in the students' journey from learning to leading.
