On August 2, 2025, sixty students from the III Year “A” Section of the Artificial Intelligence and Data Science (AID) department at St. Joseph’s College of Engineering, Chennai, visited Askan Technologies for a meaningful industry exposure session. Guided by their faculty mentors, Ms. Nithya M and Mr. Sugin S V, both Assistant Professors, the students explored what it means to move from academic learning to practical application in a professional environment.

    Encouraging Exploration Beyond the Classroom

St. Joseph’s College of Engineering continues to be a space where students are encouraged to pursue knowledge beyond books. The AID department especially nurtures hands-on experiences, with students frequently participating in industrial visits, internships, and project collaborations. The III Year “A” batch came prepared to ask questions, share their thoughts, and absorb insights from professionals.

Real-Time Tech in Action at Askan

At Askan Technologies, students were introduced to a workspace that values collaboration and real-time problem-solving. They observed cross-functional teams working on mobile applications, website development, and enterprise platforms. Rather than being passive observers, students were given the opportunity to witness the actual workflow of tech projects and how responsibilities are divided among designers, developers, and project managers.

    Student Insight Sparks Dialogue

A notable moment occurred when one student stood up to represent their department, offering a concise yet powerful explanation of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science. They spoke about machine learning, analytics, and how these areas are applied in real-world systems. This introduction not only impressed the Askan team but also set the tone for a more interactive and engaged session.

Practical Advice from the HR Perspective

The HR session, led by Ms. Fahmeeda, focused on how students can build a path toward becoming job-ready. Her advice was practical and relatable. She highlighted:
    • The importance of a well-maintained LinkedIn profile
    • Documenting internships and certifications
    • Clear communication and a willingness to learn
Her insights stressed that while technical skills are important, attitude and initiative play a major role in standing out as a candidate.

A Space for Questions and Learning

The Q&A session was a highlight of the visit, filled with curiosity and practical insight. Student Bhavadarshini asked whether Askan is a product-based company?, prompting Ms. Fahmeeda to clarify that Askan is a service-based software company, delivering tailored tech solutions across industries. This led to more student questions about project types, tech stacks, and client collaboration, creating a lively exchange of ideas. Faculty members Ms. Nithya M and Mr. Sugin S V added valuable academic context, asking thoughtful questions that linked classroom learning with real-world applications. Their involvement encouraged deeper engagement and made the session more enriching for everyone.

    Leaving with a Clearer Vision

This visit offered students a firsthand look at the operations of a software company, clarified industry expectations, and gave them the chance to reflect on their own career goals. For Askan Technologies, the session was a meaningful way to connect with emerging talent and contribute to their learning journey.
