Ideas in Action: AID Students Discover Innovation at Askan

On July 30, 2025, sixty vibrant students from the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science (AID), third-year C section at St. Joseph’s College of Engineering, Chennai, stepped beyond their classroom walls and into the world of real-time tech development. Their destination: Askan Technologies, a company where digital ideas turn into live solutions.
Accompanied by two faculty members, Assistant Professors Mr. Vijay A and Dr. Nisha A S, the students experienced more than just a company tour. What followed was a powerful introduction to innovation, professionalism, and industry collaboration.
About St. Joseph’s College of Engineering
St. Joseph’s College of Engineering, Chennai, is known for its strong academic foundation and industry-focused training. The Department of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science (AID) blends classroom learning with real-world exposure through projects, internships, and industrial visits.
The third-year C section students reflect this practical spirit, taking every opportunity to learn beyond textbooks, just like this visit to Askan Technologies.
Inside Askan Technologies’ Creative Floors
Askan Technologies welcomed the students into a workspace filled with energy and collaboration. The office setup was far from traditional. It was open, flexible, and full of conversations between designers, developers, and project managers.
Students explored active workstations, observed live projects, and saw firsthand how digital products evolve, from idea to launch. Every corner had something to teach and inspire.
Insights from the HR Q&A
The most anticipated moment was the interactive session with the Askan team, led by Ms. Fahmeeda from (Human Resource). Known for her industry insights and friendly tone, she quickly turned the session into a two-way conversation.
She shared how companies like Askan evaluate freshers. It’s not just about resumes. Curiosity, adaptability, and professional presence matter just as much. She stressed the importance of building a strong LinkedIn profile, contributing to open-source projects, and showcasing internships, elements that reflect both skill and character.
One student asked Mr. Varun G., “What services does your company provide?” This opened a broader conversation. Ms. Fahmeeda explained that Askan specializes in mobile app development, website design, and custom digital solutions across various sectors.
Another highlight came from Reya Josephine H, who inquired about internship opportunities. Ms. Fahmeedha encouraged students to apply, noting that initiative, eagerness to learn, and consistent effort often outweigh academic grades.
A Room Full of Questions and Energy
What made the session stand out was the active participation. Students and faculty alike joined the discussion. Professors Mr. Vijay A and Dr. Nisha A S asked insightful questions that added valuable context and helped students view industry from a broader perspective.
This level of engagement made the visit both educational and memorable.
Gratitude for the Guides Who Made It Happen
The success of the visit was made possible by the efforts of Mr. Vijay A and Dr. Nisha A S. Their support and involvement bridged the gap between academics and industry. Their presence reminded students that great educators also learn and grow with their students.
A Day of Learning and New Beginnings
As the students stepped out of Askan Technologies, they left with more than just notes and photos. They carried inspiration, awareness, and a stronger sense of what lies ahead.
For the Askan team, it was refreshing to engage with students filled with curiosity and purpose. For the students, it was a day of learning that felt alive and personal.
In the end, this wasn’t just an industrial visit. It was a reminder that the best way to start a journey is with questions, an open mind, and the courage to explore.
