Sri Akilandeswari Women’s College Explores IT Brilliance at Askan Technologies

On 27th January 2025, Askan Technologies had the pleasure of hosting100 students from Sri Akilandeswari Women's College, Wandiwash, for an insightful Industrial Visit (IV). Accompanied by eight dedicated faculty members, the students got an opportunity to gain first-hand exposure to the IT industry, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical applications.

About Sri Akilandeswari Women's College

Sri Akilandeswari Women's College, founded in 1995 by the Swamy Abedhanandha Educational Trust, Wandiwash, is dedicated to empowering rural women through quality education. Initially affiliated with Madras University, it became part of Thiruvalluvar University, Vellore, in 2002. Over the years, it has grown to offer 10 UG courses, 8 PG courses, and 3 Ph.D. programs, catering to 2,700 students. The college, recognized under UGC 2(f) & 12(B) status, received an 'A' Grade by NAAC in 2016. With a strong focus on academic excellence, discipline, and career readiness, the institution collaborates with leading companies like TCS, HCL, WIPRO, Amazon, and HP to provide students with excellent placement opportunities.

A Deep Dive into the World of IT

To make the industrial visit more insightful, we organized a session titled "Bridging Knowledge and Innovation in IT," offering students a closer look at the evolving tech landscape. From emerging trends to real-world applications in software development, the session sparked curiosity and engagement. The students were highly enthusiastic, actively participating in discussions, asking thought-provoking questions, and gaining valuable industry perspectives. This hands-on exposure provided them with a deeper understanding of the IT sector, bridging the gap between classroom learning and practical implementation.

  Beyond the session, the students had an opportunity to explore the work environment of Askan Technologies. They gained insights into AI-driven software development, web technologies, and the latest innovations that drive the IT industry today.

A Glimpse into Entrepreneurship in IT

During the visit, we had an inspiring interaction with Ishwarya, one of the students, who is an entrepreneur specializing in Aari work design. Her passion for creativity and business sparked an engaging discussion on how technology can empower traditional artisans. As a software development company, we truly appreciated her efforts and wanted to support her passion. To help her expand her business, we decided to give her an opportunity to open her own online store, enabling her to manage and grow her brand with worldwide customers. We gave her a clear-cut idea of Boomimart, an e-commerce platform that can help small businesses and independent artisans establish their online presence effortlessly. It was a great moment to see young talents like Ishwarya blending traditional craftsmanship with modern technology, and we are excited to see how she takes her business to the next level.
